Movie Review: Joker

I watched the Joker movie this weekend.

Wikipedia says that “the Joker is a wild card, which allows it to represent other existing cards”. Medium Writer Ashley NEPTUNE says that “existing before Comic Books and Batman, Archetypes such as the Joker could be found in Divination Cards”.

The Joker movie (2019) tells the story of a failed stand-up comedian of 1980s. The guy was driven insane and turned to a life of crime and chaos in Gotham City while becoming a psychopathic crime figure. The movie was praised by some people for Joaquin Phoenix's Oscar-winning performance.

Colin McCormick on Screenrant writes the following about the movie and it is really touching so I quote:

“Though many people probably went into this movie thinking they would see a violent

and dark take on the comic book film, Joker is more of an exploration of mental health

and how society reacts to those who have such conditions. Arthur suffers from severe

mental illness, but there see little sympathy for his condition. This relates to his feeling

about being ignored. One profound and heartbreaking entry in his journal reads, "The

worst part of having a mental illness is people expect you to behave as if you don't.”
